Gearing Up for a Work and Witness!    |    Customs, Passports, Lost Luggage?

Here are some suggestions below:                             (download INFO)

Have a team meeting once a month before leaving for Ukraine.

When bringing the team money, please make sure you divide up between a few people. Each person is allowed to bring up to $3,000 into Ukraine. Team money is what you bring for your food, lodging, transportation, translators and so on. It usually is $45 a day per person.

Please limit one check in and one carry on per person.

Plan on doing a five day VBS for an hour and a half each evening (30 – 50 kids).

Choose a few people who will bring extra bags (as your second check in) for VBS materials and requested stuff for House of James.

If anybody is allergic to certain foods and other things, please let us know.

How should we handle security issues - money, passports and visas? Keep them in your front pocket or buy something at Wal-Mart that you can put under your clothes.

Please pick a person who will be in charge of organizing the trip. And pick people for the daily devotions. Have a person in charge of worship. Have a person who will lead and organize the construction work.

Top ten things to bring for personal use

1. Bible
2. Water bottle
3. Towels
4. Hair care and soap
5. Enough clothes for the whole trip (we do have a washer just in case)
6. Games for night time
7. Extra spending cash for souvenirs
8. Extra medicine

Things to bring that you can show and share with the people in Ukraine.

1. The love of Christ.
2. Photos of your family, friends, church and other items that you are proud of.
3. Inexpensive gifts to give out to our helpers in Ukraine. For instance we will have a kitchen staff, translators, a driver and other people helping with the team.

What House of James will supply for your trip (comes out of the team money)

1. Bed with sheets, blanket and pillows.
2. Food with a team of local cooks for your breakfast, lunch and dinner.
3. Translators for Vacation Bible School and on the construction sites.
4. Transportation from the airport and through out the whole entire trip.
5. A tour in the capital city (Kiev).
